Type and Schedule: Temporary, Seasonal Internship, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hourly Pay Range: $20 – $30 an hour.
The candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location will determine the final compensation for this role.
Program Duration: Our internship cohort will begin on or about 1 Jun 2024 – 3 Aug 2024 (negotiable).
Housing: Dormitory housing options may be available and paid for by Caliola for our summer 2024 internship participants ages 18+.
Move in date of June 1, 2024, with a move our date of August 3, 2024.
Hello Colorado: There may be an opportunity to participate in Hello Colorado program sponsored by Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation.
Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Position Description: Caliola's Software Defined Radio (SDR) Engineer Intern will support the development of novel wireless communications technologies and products by applying a combination of algorithm development, Radio Frequency capabilities, and digital signal processing.
They also support the design, development, and implementation of embedded software for wireless communications technologies and products.
SDR Engineer Interns work under the supervision of seasoned PhDs and other seasoned professionals across multiple projects within multiple business areas.
Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with peers and leaders across the entire organization and have an assigned mentor, dedicated to their success.
Technical Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and prototype innovative new technologies to implement software defined radio systems and test novel algorithms in GNU Radio.
• Develop plans for SDR operational testing to demonstrate performance in communication and networking systems.
• Optimize and refine SDR algorithms and implementations to meet evolving operational needs.
• Work with Systems Engineers to define requirements for realizing new signal processing algorithms.
What We Require:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, with at least a 3.
0 GPA.
• Knowledge of wireless communications theory.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.
S.
Government.
Security clearances may only be granted to U.
S.
citizens.
In addition,
applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
What We Value:
• Experience in developing communication system components for SDR frameworks like GNU Radio.
• Fluency in Python and/or C++.
• Foundational knowledge of and experience with OSI layers of communication or networking systems.
• Knowledgeable of version control software (e.
g.
, GIT) and unit testing experience.
• Experience with network emulation software (e.
g.
, NS3 simulator or similar).
